settling in and moving on.

it's been almost 2 weeks, and i'm liking school more and more (:
the people here are really friendly, and i haven't met anyone that i don't like (yet.) lol.
i've had my first clinical session today. being the first, it was an introductory session, and we were shown around the hospital. i was shocked to know that medical care in public hospitals in australia is free. yes i know it's highly subsidised, but hell i didn't know it was free. so single bed wards and shared wards basically have no difference in classes, and single bed wards are mainly used for people with highly infectious illnesses.

second point that i spotted almost immediately: i hardly see people in uniforms. it's really hard to identify the nurses from the doctors and the other technicians, because they are all just wearing working close. apparently there should be a dress code, (not uniform) and like surgery department can choose to all wear pink. (like different shades of pink is fine). so basically it's really hard for a junior doctor to identify help when he/she needs it.

thirdly, and most importantly, i like my clinical tutor. he's really good. for the next 6 sessions, we'll focus mainly on communicating with patients. and no, not those inpatients who are just there with nothing to do, but rather we need to learn how to comfortably strike up a conversation with an outpatient for at least 5-10 minutes. at the same time, find out more about their medical problems, and advise if possible. (bitter laughs) WHAT advice can a doctor-in-training for less than 2 weeks give. hoho.
...

anyway, more pictures!

the lifesaver box i received today. (:

to spare me to agony of having to part with money on stuff that i can obtain ever-so-cheaply in singapore, i received this lifesaver box, which got delivered right to my door step (: thanks bubs! now i can go back to being my frugal self. HAHAHA.

i'm so proud of myself :D i managed to cook NICE and delicious fried rice, homecooked (exact same taste YAY(: ) cabbage, and egg that way you like it yesterday (: i cooked a large portion of friedrice, so i won't have to cook again til tomorrow (:

and that's the usual lunch.

hey, at least i'm eating okay. i already lost 2 kg (i think) but stuff are looser, and legs are definitely firmer, && jawline more defined then ever. hurhur. i shall aim to lose more :D

think about it, you reach home at 6pm, tired out from a day in school, and having to walk all the way home, you still need to force yourself into cooking, washing up after that, cleaning that darn kitchen, before you can finally take a shower, and then start on your homework. i'm so proud of myself. HAHAHA. okay i will and i definitely need to be able to keep this up. yes.

anyway, its only autumn over here, and the temperature is usually cooling in the morning, really hot in the afternoon, and then cooling nearing cold at night. the sun is really bad. its so hot, and it wouldn't be autumn if it wasn't for the almost constant breeze/wind that keeps blowing and seeps into your bones, and sends a shiver down your spine.
