after being in council for about a year, i've come to realise one fact that will never change: no matter how hard the council tries to prevent screw ups, please the majority and organise a good event, there will always be complaints no matter what.

it's definitely not fair for me to say that the whole victorian population is not understanding, and always critising, but it is true that there are people out there that will never be satisfied, no matter how hard the council tries.

these handful will then go around, loudly proclaiming their dis-satisfacation to the whole world.
take music fest as an example.

1. alot of people have been complaining about how bias the SC is in the balloting of the tickets. but in actual fact, we had no say in it at all, and it was Mr Gee (however you spell his name) who was in charge of it.

2. participants complain when they get kicked out. excuse me, there's a reason behind having judges for the auditions, and the finalists were decided solely by the judges, the SC had nothing to do with it.

3. bands complain when the SC isn't able to provide top-notch equipments for them. this is bullshit. because firstly, the school expect us to give them 2/3 of the money collected from the sales of tickets, which leaves us barely enough to pay for the printing of tickets, program booklets, prizes etc. and secondly, when you go for a competition, and wants to use good equipment, as the participant, isn't quite DUH that you should bring your own equipment.

in case you're thinking that the SC has all the money in the world when they're organising an event, then you're wrong.
...
out of the so many events that i helped in organising for vj, there was never one whereby we heard no complaints.

i really wonder when people will actually start being more appreciative and less complainy.

if you really think you can do better, then join the SC and organise it! we'll see how you'll feel when you have complaints shot right into your face, and even when you try so hard to explain, they still don't see it your way.
...

all in all, i think that the council has done very well in it's term. so great job guys and we'll rock the night tomorrow! :D
...

in a nutshell: we can't please everyone. so either take it or leave it.
