SLTC'04

reported in school before 7.15am for SLTC'04 yesterday. was suppose to reach by 7.30, but sec4 guides had to help carry stuff from ng's car to the food store, so yup, we hadta reach earlier. was kinda looking forward to this camp, cause firstly, it's only two days one night, and secondly, cause i was there only to facilitate. =) haha..meaning not much work will be done, physically at least. well, i was so wrong.

camp started off the same way, teachers pmsing- i don't get it, opening of camps are always on the first day of camps when everyone still has the energy to laugh play and joke, but teachers always have to make it seems as though they had just been through the roughest patch of their life and starts pmsing on us. again. yup. and the sad thing was that we gladly forgot to bring bananas for them to eat! bananas cure pms by the way. yep. so clara was the first to get blasted. oh but don't worry she wasn't the last.

we moved all the food to the first classroom in the classroom block, and dearest nicole ong told us that we could sleep there since we had already moved all the food there. actually we were suppose to sleep in the third classroom, which was supposedly the foodstore, but ng told us to bring all the food to the first classroom, so we ended up having the first classroom as our sleeping quarters. =/ mindya, the first classroom's the one that has the most mosquitoes! okayy..then we had a dreary welcome message from my best friend! must applaude her for it, cause miraculously, wow, she didn't exceed half an hour! first time k. then the campers were allocated their sleeping quarters and went to deposit their bags..then group A started preparing for their icebreakers. oh yah..there are 4 groups, each organising one activity. namely: group A-icebreakers, group B- teambuilding, group C- telematch and group D- night orienteering.

anyway the day proceeded..blah blah blah. shan't go into details about the different activities, but i really feel that group D is the best! whahaha. [cause i'm in group D] BUT have to admit they work really well together, and not only that, they bond really well! for a two day one night camp, they worked as though they already lived with each other for 5 days. =) members of d-crats areee..

yepp..they there are! haha..we're the only group that had a patrol identity! thanks to lowly for purchasing the smiley face shoelaces! hehx. it was on purpose to contradict our group name, group Dao. yep. WE WON THE TELEMATCH!! wahahha.=D even though i couldn't be with you guys to support you all through, sorry.=( but lowly was there! hehx. i vaguely remembered that we were the only sec4 facilitators cheering our group one, and our group was like the only one cheering each other on constantly, and they agreed that that definitely helped to boost the morale of the group! you think winning first is just a matter of cooperation? ha. it definitely involves team spirit when you're working in a group! and you did well d-crats! love ya guys and just wanna tell you all that you're the best group of leaders that i have ever come across! trust that as individuals, you guys will shine in your own CCAs and i believed that this camp has definitely changed your perspective of thinking in a certain area or another...remember the night when we had our debrief and what lowly and i told you guys kaiex..love ya!

outdoor cooking is the climax of the day..surprisingly, d-crats responded very well to firelighting and cooking in the outdoors. =] hahaha..really felt a sense of satisfaction and compassion when i saw them feeling so proud of the food that they cooked using wood, leaves and raw fire. they said things like these..

nette: can you believe it? we just made this from scratch, like two hours ago!
joleen: [while we were still cooking, i lifted up the pot cover to check the food] ehhHhh..the stew actually has smell leh!!
nette: [after lowly and i taught them how to blow at the fire so that it will become stronger and asked who wants to try][ehh this got technique one kaiex..] i want i want! it's like magic loh!

and guess what? they finished the whole pot..=)

haha..they are just so cute. like their expressions and everything. nete even became named as the fanner aka the guide-wanna-be. charmaine became known as the stirrer, cause she just couldn't stop stirring the pot once the cover is lifted..yvonne became known as the firewood tucker aka chris, don't really know the reason as to how this came about. annd what's more.. we had a perfect turf! haha..mainly cause i was niao and wanted a perfect turf! cause it's their first time doing outdoor cooking mahs..must let them see the wonders of it..and yup they did. everyone enjoyed the outdoor cooking session, and it was the first outdoor cooking session that i attended in which EVERYONE in the team gathered around the fire, helping each other whenever needed, telling jokes and laughing our hearts out, musing at the wonders of how we could actually start a fire using twigs and leaves, turf out a block of grass, tasting the food that they cooked, and having fun. they were just so willing to learn and none of them had any reservations of outdoor cooking! normally some people in the group would have some reservations about outdoor cooking, cause it's somewhat associated to dirt and mud and disgusting grass, but in this group, there were none. and i'm proud of that, i believe that lowly is too.=)

after supper, as usual ng made alot of things for us and forced us to finish them, we waited for the campers to finish bathing before going to bath together. it was around 12.30am then. bathed..and surprisingly, although we all felt tired out and physically exhausted, but our minds were awake and we were laughing and joking, mainly suaning clara for her ridiculous actions and words, and just hanging out with each other! hehx. why were we physically exhausted? well..even though we did not need to go through the same activities as the campers, but we did alot of behind-the-scenes work..like helping ng with the food, running up to the kitchen preparing meals, oh yeah..and the night orienteering where we had to walk like quite alot. my legs were sore by the end of the day...=(

after supper during cleaning up, changtsai approached lowly and said that she needed to talk to her. basically all of us were worried, cause what the hell is happening again? did ng complain to changtsai so that she can 'scold' us for her? or is changtsai just simply being irritating as usual? well..time proved the last point well enough. after we bathed, we went to the outdoor basketball court to have a "meeting" for ourselves..eenian yoke teng and peiqi were already fast asleep! we sat under the starlit sky..it was damn beautiful! the sky was clear and the only source of light were the moon and stars!! ahhh. so mei3..=] then lowly began telling us what my dearest best friend told her during the talk. well here goes.

melissa i have been observing the guides and i feel that you all are not paying back ms ng what she has given you all. she has been your guider for 4 years and i think it's only right if you take the initiative to go and help her. [righhtt. so what HAVE we been doing all day long huh.] why do you all have to wait for specific instructions such as how many people report and what time report? why can't you all just go up initiate your help by asking whether she needed help? [righhtt again. so since when did she become an expert on how ng likes to work.] ...................

oh well..she said a whole load of crap..don't really know..but from what lowly told us, it was about like that. pissed off with her and her crap. her and her thinks-shes-always-right attitude. [did i mention i hate people with that stupid attitude] her and her assumtion. her and her ways of twisting stories. i had enough. since sec1 she has already been someone that i have thought as totally irritating. and i don't see anything that is going to change that impression of mine. why? not because i did not give her a chance, but because she has proven me time and again how stupidly irritating she can get. yup.

that's about SLTC'04..i didn't go kayaking with the rest cause i had church stuff on the next mornring. so i left in the morning even before breakfast was served...and luckily i didn't go! cause all the other sec4s ended up with tan lines which i would not wanna have! cause tomorrow's grad night..wahha. okayy..my stupid brother said that this entry is long enough. right. enough is enough. haaa. byee.
